2008 GAP Ski Instructor Course Review

Once I had decided that work should not get in the way of my skiing and then done something about it (ie leaving the job!), the time to spend a couple of months skiing was relatively easy to come by.

GAP Group Deciding to do a GAP course during those months was also a pretty easy decision. My skiing needed technical development as well as practice, some days it can take real motivation to get you on the mountain, it takes time to make skiing contacts in a new town and it takes even longer to find high-performance ‘social’ contacts for the Apres hours!

Choosing Warren’s team as the answer for the first two issues was easy. I had done courses with the team before and was really impressed with the teamwork, commitment and ability of every member of the team, even more so when compared to my various previous skiing instruction experiences. I also knew it was going to be a bumpy ride to get from my level of skiing to pass BASI 2, so special thanks to Charlie, Phil, Rob and Tom for getting me through!

I was also sure that with being on a course with 30 other skiers I would be able to find someone to ski with. Finally having spent time with Warren and his team over the last couple of years, as well as having met a number of other clients and previous Gappies, it convinced me that my Gappies would provide an excellent network for the Apres hours too. I was not disappointed in any way! In addition, actually living in a town like Verbier is not just great for the social side of life but also great for day-to-day convenience.

For me the GAP Course 2008 shone with its commitment, humour and friendship and with the 100% pass rate for BASI 2, with ability as well. It’s a big change to make but I will be back in my new ‘office’, the one above Verbier, next season to work and to continue my skiing development with Warren and the boys. In the meantime I am looking forward to our summertime get-togethers and looking forward to seeing colleagues and friends on the slopes in the winter.……
