GAP SKI INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM

2008 GAP Ski Instructor Course Review

I chose to do the Warren Smith Ski Academy Gap Ski Instructor Course as I have wanted to do a ski season all my life. I was really interested by the freeride element of the course and other instructor programs which I looked at had no real emphasis on this aspect of skiing. The Academy team were really passionate about off piste skiing and this really showed by their love of fat twins.

The qualification which I gained at the end of the course enabled me to teach with the Swiss Ski School which was good fun. This enabled me to gain some teaching hours to use for my next qualification.

The accommodation was wonderfully located above an ambient petrol station and only a short walk from the supermarket and laundry. I was staying in a chalet of twelve which really bonded as a family over the 9 weeks of the course. We had an exquisite two course meal every night and cooked breakfasts in the mornings which were really appreciated before a days skiing.

David Cooper and friends Verbier itself is a top resort with so many opportunities for off piste skiing which we discovered over the course with the help of the academy team. The night life is pretty good with a wide variety of drinking establishments from the legendary Farinet apres ski to the alright CoCo club.

The level of improvement of everyones skiing on the course was unbelievable and the real gain from the course for me has been my own personal improvement. Truck drivers are so hot right now.
