About Jason St Clair (Strength and Conditioning Coach)

Jason has been in the Strength and Conditioning industry for the past 11 years and a passionate skier for more than 20.

Specialising in designing bespoke fitness training programmes so recreational and professional skiers can maximize performance, he seeks to minimize the risk of injury, and recover safely from injury.

Working with semi-professional and professional athletes from a variety of sports, and now specialising in skiing, Jason readies clients for the rigors of the mountain, with specifically tailored conditioning programs.

Taking into account his clients’ skiing ability and goals (which could be anything from recreational skiing, freeriding all over the mountain or throwing a 720 off a 30ft kicker), Jason specifically designs programs for the individual and their needs.

By analyising his clients potential ski weaknesses through a variety of tests, he prepares the skier to withstand the forces that are imposed by the mountain environment.

Active Release Technique™ (ART™) is one such highly effective technique that Jason applies to release muscles and nerves that can be causing pain or restricted joint movement, decreasing the skiers ability to function correctly on the mountain.

Through the application of ART™, the client is able to work through their correct range of motion, normally pain free, and train their body correctly with a decreased risk of injury and often resulting in the ability to produce more strength during the movement.

 

Qualifications

Jason graduated with an Exercise Science Degree, specializing in Exercise Physiology and Prescription from the University of Otago in 1998 and has continued his education in the area of strength and conditioning under the tutelage of leading industry experts from around the world.

He is a Member and Qualified Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist CSCS under the highly regarded National Strength and Conditioning Association NSCA. Active Release Technique™ has been adopted by top professional athletes in the United States and is increasingly used throughout Europe. Jason has currently completed both the Upper and Lower body level modules and is continuing further study with the technique.
