Camp info

Join us in Japan for the trip of a lifetime. Experience the lightest snow in the world in Japan’s famous Niseko resort. Embrace the food, culture and skiing on the WSSA Japan Powder camps.

The Japan powder camps are arranged in partnership with Ski Safari. Below is the outline for the standard package but when booking you can make the trip as bespoke and customised as you like with extra free ski days, time in other resorts, trips around other places in Japan or whatever else you desire – just let Ski Safari know what you’d like to add (if anything) to the standard package.

There will be 6 days skiing in total in Japan. The Powder Ski Camp will run on 5 full days in Niseko. The Camp is designed to build and develop skill and confidence, to enable people to ski all terrains with a specific emphasis on Powder skiing. Skills are developed during the coaching by practicing specific exercises that benefit the main topic of skiing powder. Progressively, the new levels of skill are tested in powder to build confidence.

The powder ski camp caters for skiers from Level 3 to Level 6 on the Academy system. Some skiers may be between Level 2 and Level 3. If this is the case and you are unsure of your level, please contact us directly through the contact page of the Academy website or call directly on +447747 809545 to discuss your level.

Provisional Itinerary

Feb 12th – arrive Sapporo, Japan. Shared transfer to Niseko from Sapporo arranged. Check in to the Green Leaf, Niseko for 7 nights accommodation B&B

Night – informal get together for those that can make it. We’ll arrive quite late and no doubt be tired so nothing formally planned for tonight but for those that are awake and can make it we’ll have some drinks in the hotel bar. WhatsApp groups will be made nearer the time to arrange exact timings.

Feb 13th-18th – During the 6 day period there will be one free ski day and 5 days coaching on the Powder Camp. The course will start from day one and run continuously for the first 5 days and the final day will be a free ski day to put into practice all the new skills you’ve learnt during the camp.

During this period the coaches will use WhatsApp to arrange video analysis, drinks and attempt to arrange a group dinner (it can sometimes be difficult to accommodate the entire group so we’ll play that by ear) throughout the week. Exact location and times will be detailed via WhatsApp.

Each day on the camps coaching will begin around 8.30 from outside the green leaf hotel.

Feb 19th – Check out and shared transfers back to the airport (unless you’ve made other plans to extend your trip or stay on for the 2nd week!)

Equipment needed

Due to the nature of the course, it is compulsory for skiers to wear a helmet and have a transceiver, shovel u0026amp; probe. Equipment is available to rent in Niseko. Rhythm Japan are a good rental shop with a large stock of powder skis. Please pre-order to ensure you get what you’re after!

Just had the best week’s powder skiing ever with WSSA in Japan. Half a metre of snow in a week, with easy access to safe off-piste areas. The team stretched us so by day 2 we were skiing in and out of silver birch trees and floating down slopes doing short turns with powder up to our waists. Meeting with the instructors in a local bar in the evenings was great for me as I was skiing on my own, but by the end of the week we were all one happy group of more than 30 on the course. Do it, you know you want to!

I have had a great week skiing with Warren and his team. It has been by far the best weeks tuition I have ever had. I feel like I learnt more in my first hour with the Academy this week than I did in a whole week of tuition the previous year. The video analysis showed clear improvement over the week of tuition and the biomechanics analysis has given me a lot to think about and improve for next time! Thanks for a great week’s skiing!
