The Mogul Academy was devised to cater for clients looking to specifically improve their mogul skiing. This is a focus in all our 5 day courses but lots of people really wanted to get their teeth stuck into this notoriously difficult area of skiing and so we’ve dedicated an entire course to the art of mogul skiing. Perfectly suited for those really wanting to hone their mogul skills or take their already good piste and powder skills and learn how to adapt these and make the decisions necessary to ski moguls with skill, flare and fluidity.
Time will be split between the piste and the bumps. We’ll utilise the piste throughout the week to work on the specific techniques and speed of movements required for bump skiing so when we enter the bumps you’ll have all the necessary skills learnt and we can focus on the mental and tactical side of bump skiing.
The course is suitable for Academy levels 3-6 on our rating scale. You can have a look at the video levels by clicking here. Willingness to ski bumps and embrace this terrain is of course a necessity too so please consider this psychological level in addition to your technical level.
Due to the nature of the course, it is compulsory for skiers to wear a helmet. Other recommendations specific for the mogul course – often you will have a slightly shorter pole than normal. If you have adjustable poles this is easy, if you are renting please rent poles 5cm shorter than your regular length. Pole baskets should be small not large as this is better for moguls. There are mogul specific skis available – you’re very welcome to come on these but they usually aren’t necessary (until competition level). A relatively long, straight piste ski (think like a GS more than a slalom) would be appropriate or a relatively long all mountain ski.
If you aren’t sure on equipment please give us a call or email and we’ll be happy to advise further.
