WSSA – CHARITY GOLF DAY 2018
Friday May 18th, saw the Academy host our first ever charity golf day.
Helping to raise funds for the Dallaglio Rugby Works charity, this fantastic event saw almost 100 people including Lawrence himself come together to play 18 holes in the beautiful surroundings of Wokefield Park Estate in Berkshire, England.
In teams of 4, Academy clients, old friends and past/current coaches made their way around this pristine course in the beautiful spring sunshine.
The guys at Wokefield Park, help to put together a brilliant package of extra’s on the course including, closest to the pin prizes, longest drive competitions and even the chance to win a Mini Cooper for a hole in one!
The level of golf was high with a lot of regular players in the mix so we were genuine surprised to see the eventual winners consisting of Academy coaches from years gone by and the big man Lawrence! There was no fixing going on here we promise!
The Academy has a strong history of organising events albeit in a very different environment, so we were keeping our fingers crossed that everything went to plan for this first event of its kind.
We were both ecstatic and relieved that the day was huge success!
Concluding with a spectacular charity auction with prizes that included, VIP passes to the Rolling Stones in London, and a holiday in the Caribbean, it was great to end the day having raised over £10,000 for a charity that helps young people up and down the UK back into sustained education, employment or training.
We will certainly be back to run this event next year and were are starting to take team reservations already!
