Those who know us know we put a huge emphasis on your biomechanics and the important role they play in unlocking your skiing potential, the Technique Lab is our off snow avenue to make sure you understand your blocks and how alleviating them can make breakthroughs in your skiing.
The Technique Lab has been a part of the Academy for well over 10 years, its basis has been integral to the Academy since the very beginning over 20 years ago. Understanding your biomechanics as clientele has been integral to the successful system that we use to breakthrough your skiing levels, by understanding the movements we need for expert skiing we have been able to test your ranges and identify the blocks which could be holding you back from achieving your full skiing potential.
Often these moments are lightbulb moment revelations as to why certain aspects of skiing feel un-achievable or why you struggle in certain terrain or situations on skis, quite simply you can’t move in the correct range. This understanding that it is not always bad technique or understanding but your bodies inability to move to a required amount to perform certain techniques required for skiing.
This can do a few things: Stops skiers frustration once they realise the root cause of the lack of improvement is their body, constant repetition of drills and the like is not the answer. Give them the tools to improve the necessary ranges before they even set foot on skis, setting up for success rather than failure. For us as coaches understanding your movement patterns is essential to getting the best out of you, if you have blocks we can’t fix that on a week long course but we can adapt what we are trying to get you to do relative to your personal biomechanics.
This year sees the introduction of a unique and specific testing set which ties in directly to our 6 subjects that are integral to achieving your full potential. The Activation and development kit will have everything you need to measure and develop your scores across the board, with the help of the accompanying materials you will be able to understand what is being tested and how your can carry out the tests yourselves to measure your progress along the road to skiing stardom.
Last year saw the launch of the Expert Program, a complementary document to further your understanding of ski technique, equipment and biomechanics. This sees a revamp to better work in conjunction with the Activation and Development kit, providing even more information to help your further yours and your friends understanding of ski technique, biomechanics and equipment. This, we are hoping, will be an invaluable source to everyone involved in skiing, be that as skiers, coaches or within the retail side.
The Expert Program helps non skiers understand ski technique, the related biomechanics and the need for certain strengths and movement patterns. this we hope becomes invaluable to Physios and PT’s to help you prepare in the best possible way for your skiing.
The launch of this will be at The London Snow Show this coming October.
