About the Course

Train for your higher level Danish ski instructor exams with some of the best coaches in the world.

Danish trainers Victor Skieller, Tobias Poulson and Danish Freerider Johan Mikkelsen will head up the seasonal training programme alongside the senior Academy coaches. We’ve trained instructors for 20 years in Verbier, Switzerland helping them improve their technical skiing and teaching and attain higher level qualifications.

The program is designed for skiers who have already gained their Danish L2 instructor qualifications and wish to train toward their L3. (Strong L1 candidates will be considered – please get in touch).

Verbier is the ideal place to hone your skiing, offering fantastic terrain of all sorts, quiet slopes and also a great town and atmosphere in general.

The course dates work perfectly to fit around typical work schedules allowing for all peak weeks to be free to work and earn. If you’re looking to work we’ll consider any applications and if you aren’t suited to the Academy we have a few partnerships in town with other ski schools that we’ll happily put you in touch with to arrange a job.

The best trainers, phenomenal ski area and great work opportunities – what more could you ask for!

Course Content

Technical skiing: In preparation for the Level 3 technical course, training will cover: Piste Performance, Powder, Variables, Steep Terrain, Moguls and Freestyle. Each week we will train 25hrs on snow with regular video analysis sessions to help continue development in all areas. The weeks will be strategically chosen to maximise training, avoid fatigue and train during the quieter times when the mountain is much calmer and more conducive to productive training instead of queuing and avoiding people on the slopes.

Teacher training: We’ll also help you improve your own personal teaching and build on your current skills as a ski teacher. Not only will this make you more employable but it will help you pass the teaching aspect of the exams.

Avalanche safety and backcountry skills: Throughout the course, when conditions are suitable we’ll allocate specific days and weeks to avalanche safety and back country skills. We love skiing this terrain safely and want everyone who trains with us to be confident skiing off piste and have the knowledge to avoid getting into trouble whilst having a great time. There’ll be touring trips and lots of free ride fun to be had during the course.

Racing: Verbier isn’t the best resort for skiing gates day in/day out but a lot of the piste training will help you develop the skills necessary to race well and be fast. Every Saturday during the season there’s an open race on the Verbier State which costs 40CHF to enter and is perfect to get some time in gates and prep for the CTT. This is a GS course so perfect experience for the CTT exam for those that are planning on doing this. If you’re looking for more intense race weeks to prep specifically for racing we have partners in nearby resorts we’d be happy to put you in touch with who specialise in exactly this – typically in the run up to a CTT at the same location.

Why train with us?

The Trainers!

We’ve got some of the best ski instructor trainers in the world with vast amounts of experience between them. Even better – 3 of them are fellow Danes who understand the system and how to train for the exams perfectly. Victor and Tobi are examiners and trainers within the Danish system and Johan has recently come through the system with a background in Freeride competitions. Between the 3 of them and the wider Academy team you couldn’t ask for a better group of trainers to help you excel and pass your exams.

Work Opportunities

We also have numerous partnerships with ski schools in town that we’d be happy to connect you with if looking for peak week work that fits in around the training dates.

Compared with other countries and resorts, Verbier offers really competitive pay rates and good amounts of work during the peak season.

Future work opportunities within the Academy itself are also very realistic for the best of the best!

Verbier

Verbier has some of the best terrain available for higher level ski instructor training. Steep pistes, exceptional off-piste, endless bumps and fast lifts make the resort ideal for training toward your higher level ski instructor qualifications.

In addition to the on-snow qualities of Verbier, it’s also an amazing resort for all things non-skiing. Whether you want to get fit, take up yoga, learn a new language or just enjoy the Apres and night life Verbier is a resort that has it all.

Years of experience

We’ve been running the higher level training courses since 2007! Over this time we’ve meticulously improved the programme and schedule.

This has allowed us to create a training schedule that maximises your potential with strategic break periods for practice, rest and time to work during the busy peak season.

Every aspect of the course has been tried and tested. Year on year our students achieve excellent results and pass their exams.
